Every year, the “Lucy” Christmas illuminations along the Bahnhofstrasse and other Christmas lights swathe Zurich in a Christmas ambiance. All over the city, magnificent fir trees stand ready to be decorated and admired. This year, Zurich Tourism has turned this communal tree decorating tradition into an international social event. Since the end of November, a huge “Season‘s Greetings Tree” has been standing in the middle of Sechseläutenplatz, waiting to be adorned with Christmas decorations.
Anyone from anywhere in the world can order a personalized Christmas bauble free of charge via zuerich.com/greetingstree. Each bauble is printed with the person’s own personal Christmas message in German, French, Italian or English and then hung on the Season’s Greetings Tree. Subsequently, both sender and recipient receive a photograph of their personalized Christmas bauble on the tree by e-mail, which can then be forwarded to family and friends. The Season’s Greetings Tree aims to bring people from all corners of the globe together in Zurich and to convey Zurich’s Christmas feeling through the social networks.
