Just under 28 million passengers took off and landed last year at Berlin’s airports. The capital, with its two airports at Schönefeld and Tegel, thus continues to be the number three in Germany, after Frankfurt/Main and Munich.
Hartmut Mehdorn, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “28 million passengers is a great success for us. Never before in the history of the airport company have so many passengers been handled within one year. Tegel will continue to manage the bulk of this until the BER opens in 2017.
We will ensure operations there and at Schönefeld run as smoothly as possible in future too. The fact they run even under difficult weather conditions is something our colleagues demonstrated again just after Christmas. Despite considerable fresh snowfall within a few hours, only minor restrictions occurred.”
